Are you hosting your own email server? Consider using our backup mail service or our spam/AV filtering service to first scan your mail, before it’s delivered to your servers. This can significantly reduce the load and storage on your mail server, and free up your bandwidth for your users.
With our MX backup service, if your mail server goes down and someone tries to send you an email, the message won’t bounce back to the sender.
You will not lose any email with our mail backup services. A Barracuda Spam Firewall at PoleStar (#i2m’s sister company) acts as your second priority mail server. If your mail server cannot be reached, inbound email will be routed to our mail backup server and will wait in queues. Our server will check the availability of your mail server every 15 minutes. Once your mail server is detected and responding properly, our mail server will forward the messages to your server.
Our mail server will continue trying to deliver queued mail to your server for 48 hours. Any messages in the queue that are more than 48 hours old will be returned to the sender. A web interface can be provided so you can check (and read) queued messages while your mail server is down (this feature is restricted to one client-designated person). Prices start as little as $2/month for backup MX services, and $.75/user/month for spam AV filtering.
