Just a bit of a warning… seems as though the new Droids from Verizon are having an issue with Zimbra, specifically truncated e-mails… This was a problem a few version back generally with Droids, but had been fixed… seems to have poped up again just for these new Verizon Droids..

So… A bug report has been opened:

https://bugzilla.zimbra.com/show_bug.cgi?id=50147

And the original problem:

https://bugzilla.zimbra.com/show_bug.cgi?id=42482

We’ll keep you updated…

Short Term Fixes:

Set up you mail as an IMAP account, disabling ActiveSync for mail, and keeping it for calendar and contacts

Goto http://zimbra.polestarnetworks.net/m and use the mobile web client with full access to mail/cal/contacts and more. This is way more piratical with the Droids than the iPhone b/c the Droid lets you save your user/password… so with a bookmark to the above site, you can pop into the full mobile client easily… Even w/o this issue, if you haven’t checked out the mobile web client on your iPhone or Droid… plz do.. its very nice…

Stay tuned

Archive your e-mail using zimbra desktop

Keeping your mailbox quota in check can be tricky. Even after deleting junk and old messages, you can still find yourself with a significant chunk of e-mail that you need to keep but don’t have the space for.

But how much e-mail do you really need instantly, at your fingertips?

By using zimbra desktop, you can archive mail messages to your local computer – letting you keep whatever you want, without having to worry about quota limits on the server. Utilizing this method, you can keep your zimbra inbox small (say, only 2 weeks back) and still have everything available to you in your zimbra desktop. It also means you’ll have access to your e-mail, regardless of internet connectivity.

Since our upgrade to 6.0.7 there has been a change in some of the spam scoring that has affected some e-mail, causing it to end up in your junk folder when normally, or at least pre 6.0.7, would not…

We have made some changes to correct (or at least work-around) the issue… you can help by marking any mail that ends up in your junk folder that shouldn’t be there as “not spam”.

For those of you interested, the bug is documented here

As a side note, if you do get mail in your spam folder that should not be there, and marking it as “not spam” does not get it to your inbox in a day or two of marking it, you can goto (in the Zimbra Web Client) Preferences/Mail. At the bottom of that screen, you’ll see an area that will allow you to whitelist (and blacklist) specific e-mails to over-ride the decisions being made by the internal spam system.

Please let us know if you continue to have any issue with mail ending up as spam that should not be….

Thanx!
